Power Outage and Dark Clouds

Minutes after a power failure this afternoon (and this was no rolling blackout), I  became so excited.  I heard  a wind chime symphony.

The wind had blown a potpourri of crepe myrtle blooms into the pool.

Looked up and saw something I haven’t seen in maybe two months.  It was so exciting, I grabbed my camera!  Clouds!  They were dark.  It almost looked like rain.  There was even a distant rumble.

But did it rain?  Not. Even. A. Single. Drop!  We are stuck in a seemingly endless drought.

Now, back to the power outage problem.  It  happened about 4:30 in the afternoon.  After 65 days or so of temps above 100-degrees, and it was only 107-degrees today,  guess a large portion of our part of town just gave out today.
Exhausted!

I hope you will join me for
Potpourri  Friday
on September 2.

Until next time, Honey

  3. I think about friends in the south and pray that you'll soon see an end to the extreme temperatures and drought.

  5. Hi Honey, The same thing happened here yesterday. It looked like it was fixing to rain but nothing, now it's 3:30 in the morning I just woke up to the delightful sounds of thunder. It did rain, but was just a little sprinkle and only lasted a minute, but it was so nice to even see a sprinkle & to hear the thunder. Hope we all get some much needed rain soon!

  8. We got the same storm as you about 4:30 am Wednesday morning. The lightening lite up the world and the thunder was horrible, NO RAIN! I'm praying for those folks too.

  9. Honey, I am fretting about Irene, but I wish some rain would make its way out west and southwest. We have had so much already. This summer has just been the craziest in a long while! xo,

  10. I hope that you had a bit of rain this morning! I was awakened by thunder and really didn't know if it was real. :-) Very little rain though.

I'm not really sure how much longer I can do this heat. :-(

  13. Only 107. I can't even imagine a universe where those words might come out of my mouth. Here's hoping that Irene both misses us, and magically sends you some rain. Love the picture of the crepe myrtle blooms in the pool. So pretty! Thanks for sharing.

  14. I'm so sorry you didn't get some rain. But you got some beautiful cloud pictures. I'd send you some rain from Florida if I could! There's water everywhere here.

  15. What a brutal summer this has been in so many parts of the country. When I am in Houston I am shocked by the intensity of the heat. It has to break, and here's hoping for rain.
